In Love with God and with Each Other – A Story That Began Online

Because when faith is the foundation, love grows without haste

It started simply—like many stories these days—with creating a profile on justsinglechristians.com. Marta was 34, worked at a psychological counseling center, and spent her evenings with tea and books, more often theological than romantic. She wasn’t the type looking for a “prince charming.” She was searching for someone who understood that prayer isn’t just a ritual—it’s a conversation. Someone who wouldn’t be surprised that Sunday is sacred, and God is never a taboo topic.

Tomek was 36, an IT specialist who played guitar in a small faith community in his free time. For years, he had been hoping to meet someone he could talk to about Scripture and laugh at Christian memes on Instagram. And although he had already been on a few dates—some too rushed, others too superficial—he still believed that “something real” existed.

They met on a dating platform for Christian singles. Her profile had a quote: “In quietness and trust is your strength.” (Isaiah 30:15). His said: “Love is patient…” — with a smile, as he wrote, because it was patience that his past experiences had taught him most.

The first message was modest:

“So is it Isaiah that draws the messages, or the jasmine tea from your bio?”

Marta replied:

“Definitely the jasmine. Isaiah is just a test.”

They understood each other immediately. Their conversations were light yet deep. They talked about what brought them joy, about how they understood faith. They didn’t shy away from harder topics—loneliness in the Church, social pressures, expectations. They were honest. And that honesty is what led them, after two weeks of messaging, to meet in person.

They chose a café with live music—the kind that plays jazz on Saturday afternoons and doesn’t interrupt conversation. Marta came with a book under her arm—it made her feel more confident. Tomek brought a small notebook—he said he used it to jot down inspiring thoughts from the Gospels.

Within an hour, they both knew this wouldn’t be their last meeting.

They continued to see each other regularly. Sometimes at church for adoration, sometimes on forest walks, and sometimes just in her kitchen—cooking together and laughing at how completely different their taste in music was.

But what mattered most was that they prayed together. Not always for long. Sometimes just an “Our Father” whispered over a cup of tea. But always together.

Their story wasn’t a fairy tale. They had different lifestyles, different daily rhythms. But they shared one rhythm of the heart—one that beat in sync with: faith – respect – closeness.

After six months, they went on a retreat together. On Sunday morning, after Mass, Tomek looked at Marta and asked:

-“And if God answered our prayers with just one click… maybe now it’s time for the next step?”

Marta smiled broadly.

-If you’re asking whether I believe you're the answer to my ‘Lord, send me someone who loves You’… then yes. I believe.”
